The violence protest on March 20, 2021 at Sanam Luang caused 11 of the officers the serious head injuries from being hit by the bricks and some of the officers were injured by the shrapnel from the ping-pong bombs.
Although, it is forbidden to gather at any place or do any act which incites unrest in Bangkok at this moment. It was the police officers’ duty to end the activity in order to reduce the risk of injury to members of the public and secure the government property.
In carrying out our duties, police officers make use of non-violent means before resorting to the use of force. Officers only proceed according to the UN Human Rights’ guidance on less-lethal weapons.
